Trash the Dress!

You guys, I have been talking alot lately about having a bride that would like to have some seriously unique fashion portraits done, I think the term "Trash the dress" is scaring some folks away, while you certainly can "trash" your dress, you can get some pretty remarkable portraits without irrepairable damage. Give these video's a look and see who the adventureous among you is, I will even give a free session to the first one to take us up on it!

Congratulations Darlene & Mark!!

We just wanted to post a quick congrats to our newest couple, Darlene & Mark on their upcoming wedding. They booked us just today for their September wedding, this year. See, it's never too late!
They are a fun couple that we hope to get to knhow alot better, soon! I will be making a run up to see them next week and get the feel for their backyard setting. It should be beautiful as they have a home near Wintergreen ski resort with spectacular sunset views from the deck!
We want to give a big thank you to Claudia at Claudia's Florist in Amherst.
She did the flower arrangements at Shannon O'neill's wedding and has been telling her customers great things about us! I will be dropping by her place next week too!
Thanks again to you both, we can't wait to work with you on your wedding day!!
Visit Claudia!

Jon Shain, N.C's Best Kept Secret!

Here's a couple of great new video clips from our good friend, singer songwriter Jon Shain.
Jon is based in North Carolina and is one of the best around at what he does. I have known Jon since the early 90's when he played with a great little hippie rock combo called Flyin' Mice. He has really matured over the years and his music is some of my very favorite. Great road trip tunes!
Rock on Jon!

A great review of the new CD in this month’s Harp magazine TEXT
A super review in the July issue of Southeast Performer magazine (out of Atlanta) TEXT
and the Independent Weekly gave it a stellar review this last month, as well TEXT

We have a new monthly newsletter that we have been working on! We will be sending the first issue out soon for August. You can check out what we are up to in slightly more detail that we post here on the blog. Plus, I will be posting photography tips and tricks as well as access to some free stuff, Photoshop actions or tutorials and other fun stuff. Come on! Sign up on our Home Page!

Rebekah..

Trish & I took our Pastor's daughter Rebekah up to the Peaks of Otter for her senior session yesterday, the weather was great, a litle warm, but good light all afternoon. She brought her favorite stuff, her ball & bat, her mom, and her convertable Mustang! We worked around the lodge and even brought furniture to work with and ended up at the ranger's station, where we met a great guy named Curt, who let us use his motorcycle for a few shots! I love my job!

Katelin's Senior Shoot

I got the senior promotion going with a bang this week! We got some great portraits of Katelin, a young lady from our church, who was just a joy to work with, it was a hot humid late July afternoon when we went downtown for the shoot. Another model bailed out on us and my assistant had other things to attend to, so it was just the two of us. All in all I think we did a great job!
Just a reminder to anyone who is thinking of booking a portrait session, they are only $135! Give us a call and reserve the date soon!

Dont forget! We like to "trash" our seniors too! CHECK IT OUT!

VPPA Wrapup

I got back from the VPPA Summer Seminar yesterday and have already edited and posted a few images from the great hands on workshops we had on monday. Kevin Hurley from Roanoke gave a great workshop on senior photography. We shot around our hotel, and he even brought some studio furniture,( an old yard sale couch ), that we used out in a field to test out some lighting techniques. Later there was another in depth lighting seminar for bridal portraits. All together this weekend was FULL of great information and inspiration. Parker Pfister spoke about wedding photography Monday morning, and put alot of good ideas out there for us. I really had a great time meeting lots of talented Virginia photographers and learning tons from them. Thanks so much to Pete McKee, David Lee Michaels, and Kevin Hurley for everything! Can't wait for the fall seminar now..
